Object: Connecting to the VPN and Accessing Project Files for Subcontractors
Description

This guide explains how to set up your account for the first time, install the VPN client, and access your project files on the network.

Steps
  1. Open an "InPrivate" or "Incognito" browser window and go to: https://myaccount.microsoft.com

  1. Sign in with the username and password provided by the IT Department.

  1. Change your password when prompted during the first login, following these criteria:

- Minimum length: 14 characters.
- The password must contain characters from at least three of the following four categories:
    - Upper case letters (A-Z)
    - Lower case letters (a-z)
    - Numbers (0-9)
    - Special characters (e.g., !, $, #, %)

  1. Click UPDATE INFO in the Security Info section to configure Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).
  2. Add a sign-in method. We recommend using the Authenticator App (Microsoft Authenticator).

  1. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the configuration.

  1. Download the FortiClient VPN client from the following website: https://www.fortinet.com/support/product-downloads#vpn

  1. Install the FortiClient VPN client by following the on-screen instructions.
  2. Launch the FortiClient VPN application from your Start Menu or desktop icon.

  1. Click Configure VPN, enter the following information, and then click Save:
    • VPN (type): SSL-VPN
    • Connection Name: GCM Consultants
    • Remote Gateway: vpn.gcmconsultants.com/sso
    • Check the box for Enable Single Sign-On (SSO) for VPN Tunnel
    • Check the box for Use external browser as user-agent for saml user authentication

  1. Click the lock icon to access more options.

  1. Click the gear icon and set the following options:
    • VPN Options: Preferred DTLS Tunnel
    • Do not modify internal browser cookies

  1. Return to the main screen and click the SAML Login button to connect.

  1. Sign in with your email address and approve the sign-in request from your Microsoft Authenticator app.

  1. Confirm that you are connected to the VPN.

  1. Open Windows Explorer while connected to the VPN to access your project files.

  1. Enter your GCM username and password if prompted to authenticate.
  2. Access your available project directories.

Notes
  • Remember to disconnect from the VPN at the end of your workday.
